Beautiful, useful, steeped in history and tradition. Made in Thailand in a family cooperative, using centuriesold techniques, knives are hand-forged from carbon steel and finished with wood handles. Use the curved Moon Knife (111/2 long, 71/2 blade) to prepare coconut, watermelon, hard-skinned fruits and meats. Straight-edged Slice Knife (101/2 long, 6 blade) doubles as a chef's knife and cleaver for mincing and paper-thin slicing. Set arrives in a bamboo storage box. Hand wash and dry.

Each of the Thai moon knives is made of carbon steel, cut, and sharpened to traditional standards. This chef's knife was traditionally used for cutting pork in the markets; it even cuts through bone.
